GREEN FASHION WEEK

Step aside New York Fashion Week, Green Fashion Week is here to showcase style and sustainability
Green Fashion Week (GFW) is a non-profit international event supported by GD Major Entertainment and patronised by the Ministry of the Environment, in collaboration with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Operating in a way that is truly unique, each GFW takes place in a different beautiful location. So far they've popped up in Abu Dhabi, Milan, LA, Las Vegas, Rome, Dubai, Switzerland and Portugal. These locations allow for breath-taking photography of sustainable fashion between uncontaminated nature, luxury and culture.

This year's destination is still to be confirmed due to the current situation.

Aiming to reconcile sustainability with the fashion industry, GFW only partners with sustainable brands and that means no greenwashing is allowed. GFW operates very closely with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the brands who are invited to exhibit their designs must respect the 17 SDGs. For, as they believe, the only way we can preserve our planet and safeguard the future of the next generations is to have a fashion industry that is economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.

Many stunning brands featured at the last GFW in Milan, ranging from footwear to swimwear, and they all restore faith in our ability to produce spectacular designs that have sustainability at their core.
Here is a selection of some of these innovative brands.
Krié at Milano 2020
Ludovica Gualtieri at Milano 2020
Wilding at Milano 2020
KRIÉ has the core belief that fashion can be sustainable and affordable. It is all about making daily efforts and raising awareness in the whole fashion industry. Making strides to reduce waste, they only release limited collections and buy leftover fabrics that would otherwise go to waste. Because of their way of production, creativity is integral to KRIÉ's work which can truly be appreciated when you see the end result.
Using only 100% eco-friendly materials, Ludovica Gualtieri creates swimwear that respects the environment and its people. All made in Italy with 100% Italian fabrics, their pieces are high performing yet fun and colourful.
Wildling passionately assume responsibility for people and the planet. They believe in sourcing materials from partners with environmentally friendly distribution channels. Not only that, their commitment to the people is evident through their corporate volunteering and going above and beyond the standard legal requirements. Plus, as well as encouraging healthy feet muscles, their footwear is available in an array of colours, making them not only ethical and practical but attractive, too.
It's not long until Green Fashion Week 2021 which will take place this spring on a yet-to-be-confirmed date. If supporting brands that take on the challenge of sustainable fashion with innovation and enthusiasm sounds appealing, Green Fashion Week is definitely the Fashion Week for you.
