MEET KOKOA

Vegan, cruelty-free, ethically manufactured, and affordable; is Kokoa the best natural skincare around?
Well, it certainly puts up a good fight. Since its conception in 2016, Kokoa has grown from a Ghanaian remedy to a European based e-commerce store, and even has its own beauty salon (closed temporarily due to COVID restrictions) in Altrincham, Manchester.

So, if you're on the hunt for skincare products for sensitive skin that don't break the bank, look no further! Kokoa offers incredible, ethical, and affordable skincare for a multitude of sensitive skin concerns.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Kokoa's founder documents her brand being born out of incessant skin sensitivity and painful eczema flare-ups. For years she tormented her sensitive skin with countless products, and to no avail. However, once being gifted African black soap by her father, she never looked back. Having cleared up her skin in as little as three weeks, Kokoa began looking into the composition of these products, enthralled to uncover the magic behind them.

Endless studying and experimenting later, Kokoa launched her new e-commerce brand, Kokoa, in November of 2016, and, from there, they have blossomed; featuring in country-wide shows and fairs, building their own vegan salon, and even hosting a vegan beauty fair. With Kokoa, you no longer have to compromise your ethics or your budget. Affordable, sensitive skincare has never looked, or felt, so good.

THE PRODUCTS
African Black Soap

It is no wonder Kokoa has seen such an influx of custom and success. As a user of this African black soap myself, I can fully attest to its capabilities in soothing and reducing breakouts with continued use. It contains shea butter and is naturally high in vitamins A, E, and F, which is perfect for moisturising and healing active skin conditions. This is a great soap for sensitive skin and can even be used to reduce eczema flare-ups. The original African black soap comes wrapped in a square of grease proof paper and is packaged in an adorable cardboard box. So, once you've used all the soap, there is very little, if any, wastage.

Shea Butter

Another tried and true is Kokoa's 100% organic, unrefined Ghanaian shea butter. Compared to refined shea butter, its organic composition contains a lot more natural vitamins and properties that are often reduced in the refinement process. This makes Kokoa's 100% shea butter ideal for blemishes, wrinkles, and dry and sensitive skin areas.

Alternatively, Kokoa offers a range of combination shea butters, including their 70% shea and aloe vera, 70% shea and cocoa butter, and 70% shea and apricot butter, which all include unique textures and oils. These butters all come in an aluminium metal tin which is, of course, recyclable after use. Plastic free, cruelty free, toxin free, and vegan friendly are all claims held by this product, which make it a truly guilt free purchase.
Reusable cotton pads

Kokoa has also recently got involved in selling popularised beauty tools, including facial stones and rollers. But, today, we are going to be looking at their reusable facial cotton pads. Coming in a washable fabric bag, these pads can be used for makeup removal, application, and pretty much as a substitute for any disposable cosmetic wipe or pad that you have used previously! Not only does this simplify your own skincare routine but it makes it more affordable, as it reduces the ongoing expense of different wipes for different purposes. Plus, it limits the consumption of disposables, which promotes a more cyclical, sustainable approach to beauty.

KOKOA MORALS

If these weren't incentives enough, Kokoa even has an admirable alliance with multiple organisations and environmental pledges. As mentioned, Kokoa is guaranteed to be 100% vegan and cruelty free, and they have even published an article about their condemnation of using palm oil in products. Palm oil trees are often harvested and

deforested in the process of making cosmetic and food items, which can be detrimental to rainforest environments, and the habitats of animals such as orangutans, rhinos, and elephants. So, Kokoa publicly rejects the use of all palm oil in their products, and instead works with sustainable alternatives, such as sunflower oil.

Plus, Kokoa has promoted their support of Hope for Justice, a charitable organisation which works toward ending modern day slavery. 4% of all Kokoa's profits are donated to Hope for Justice, which is amazing for redistributing the success of Kokoa's Ghanaian products and exotic oils.

OUR VERDICT

Kokoa truly is the future in affordable, environmentally friendly sensitive skincare. Whether you're vegan, battling with sensitive skin conditions, passionate about sustainability, or simply curious, Kokoa has something for you. So, next time you're in the market for a new cleanser or packet of cotton pads, you know where to go!
